About Diversity Veteran FC

Diversity Veteran FC Edmonton was founded in 2015 by a group of Canadians of Cameroonian descent under the leadership of Mr. Peter Ajang, the club’s pioneer president. At its inception, the club was known as Deux-Zero, a name commonly adopted by Cameroonian veterans’ soccer clubs both locally and abroad. The founding vision was to create a space where individuals could connect, network, and build lasting friendships through soccer.

Over the years, the club expanded its scope beyond the pitch by incorporating initiatives such as a kids’ summer camp, mental health awareness seminars, International Women’s Day celebrations, and intentional efforts to empower women in leadership roles. Through these initiatives, the organization evolved into far more than a soccer club; it became a true cornerstone of community spirit, inclusion, and connection. With a proudly diverse membership, the club welcomes people of all ages, backgrounds, and ethnicities, fostering a culture where everyone feels valued both on and off the field. This growth and evolution led to the club’s name change in 2020 to Diversity Veteran FC, a name that more accurately reflects its core values and mission.

Diversity FC is widely recognized for its active involvement in friendly matches with local teams and cultural groups across Alberta, strengthening relationships and promoting unity through sport. Beyond local engagement, the club has proudly represented its community on larger stages, including the Canada National Veterans Tournament, where Diversity FC has captured the championship title twice. 

Partnership remains central to the club’s mission. Over the years, Diversity FC has collaborated with numerous community organizations and businesses to support positive initiatives, promote healthy living, and create meaningful opportunities for connection. The club continues to break barriers and set new standards by participating in cultural events, building strong partnerships, and consistently demonstrating a welcoming and inclusive spirit.

Off the field, Diversity FC has made a lasting impact by championing empowerment and diversity in sport. The club hosts annual Women’s Day celebrations and actively engages kids and youth through summer soccer and volleyball programs, nurturing unity and a strong sense of belonging across generations.

Most recently, Diversity FC was honoured with an award at the Crown Awards in recognition of its outstanding community and social impact. The club’s journey stands as a powerful testament to passion, perseverance, purpose, and legacy as it continues to uplift and support the community, particularly newcomers, through sport and collective engagement.

Our mission at Diversity Veteran FC is to build an inclusive, welcoming, and empowering community through sport. We are committed to using soccer and recreation as tools to unite people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds, fostering a strong sense of belonging both on and off the field.

We strive to strengthen community connections by promoting inclusion, teamwork, and mutual respect, while actively engaging with local teams, cultural groups, organizations, and businesses. Through friendly competition, cultural participation, and community partnerships, we aim to break barriers, celebrate diversity, and promote healthy, active living.

Our players, coaches, and volunteers regularly participate in community events, cultural celebrations, friendly matches, fundraising initiatives, and programs that bring people together.
